The Best Two Years

Two years ago I moved to Logan.

Two years ago I met tons of amazing people, most of whom are still a huge part of my life.

Two years ago Erin and I met.

Two years ago I left one life behind.

Two years ago I started a new one.

Two years ago I started finding out who I really am.

Two years ago I never thought I'd be who or where I am today.

Amazing what can happen in two years...

A Good Thing

You know it's a good thing when a friend you haven't seen in months comes up to you and the first thing she says is...

"You seem happy. You seem SO happy. What's different?"

I thought I was happy before...

Who knew one week could make such a difference??

This song perfectly describes my life right now.

Ride 'em Cowboy!

I love the rodeo.
A lot.
Here's why.

They start with a prayer...

"Our gracious and Heavenly Father,
We pause in the midst of this festive occasion,
mindful and thoughtful of the guidance
that You have given us.
As cowboys, Lord, we don't ask for any special favors.
We ask only that you will let us compete in this arena as in life's arena.
We don't ask that we never break a barrier,
draw a steer that won't lay,
draw around a chute-fighting horse
or a bull that is impossible to ride.
Help us compete in life as honest as the horse we ride
and in a manner as clean and pure as the wind
that blows across this western country.
So, when we make that last ride,
that we know is inevitable, to the country up there -
where the grass is green and lush and stirrup high
and the water runs crystal clear and deep,
You will tell us, as we enter that Arena,
our entry fees are paid.
We ask these things in Christ's name.
Amen."

Cowboys. 'Nuff said.

Mutton bustin'...
Probably the most entertaining thing ever.

Breaking out the western wear.

The National Anthem being sung,
the flags being run around the arena.

The princesses, queens, and their sparkly clothes.

The smell of fair burgers and all the other junk food.

Remembering that everyone has an inner redneck.

Saddle bronc riding...
Probably my favorite event.
(Great ride tonight Jake!)

Randy Munns.
Greatest rodeo clown ever.

Closing with this...

I love it.
All of it.
Two weeks til the next one.

The Boys of Fall

Can't wait.

This Week...

I've learned (or been reminded of) a lot of lessons this week.
Most of them were from work. "Rocket Scientist Camp" (or as they all called it, Small Satellite Conference) was help at USU this week. Let me tell ya... lots of interesting people...
Anyway. The lessons.

Lesson #1
Dress your age. 45+ year old women should not wear dresses that end above the knee. Also, they should not wear 4 inch wedge sandals. Sorry, but you don't have the legs for that anymore.

Lesson #2
Apparently some people from India have had salsa with meat in it. I had a lady come up to me and ask "Is this salsa vegetarian?" Uh... yes...

Lesson #3
I really like my major. Especially when these scientists/engineers start talking all technical.

Lesson #4
Working two double-shift days in a row makes for one very tired Megan.

Lesson #5
Sometimes the littlest things make that very tired Megan a very happy Megan.

And I know there were a couple other things... I knew I should have written them down! Dang. Oh well. I'm going to bed now.

Have I ever told you about one of my favorite blogs?
Check out Silver Strands and read her story.
She's amazing.
Anyway, right now she's doing a giveaway with a necklace from The R House Couture.
It's way fun stuff! Go to her page to enter the giveaway!

Advertising Works.

Let's just say that I may or may not be the reason businesses do so well.
I am the queen of giving in to commercials.
The stuff in the aisles or on sale? Yep. Those too.
Even tv shows get me. I turned on the tv to History Channel today and American Eats is on all day. This episode is all about the history of pizza in America. It's so great. I love this channel, but that's a whole other story. I made it about 15 minutes in to the show, and I had already called and ordered some Papa John's for lunch.
Pathetic? Maybe.
But I'm satisfied.

Yep.

Best.
Date.
Ever.

But seriously...

Love.

I love this movie.
A lot.
I'm watching it right now.
For about the 102,578th time.

In other news, we had our A-Team closing banquet last night.

I love this family.
I'm already looking forward to next summer.

Tonight.

Tonight I have a date.
I'm excited.
He's cute.
Pretty much perfect, according to his mom.
She set us up.
Wish me luck!

Time Well Spent

Every once in awhile I take a "me day."
I just hang out, spoil myself a bit, and enjoy life.
I love them.
Today was one of those days.

Other than my meeting this morning, the day was totally mine.

Round 1- shopping. I went out, spent more than I probably should have, but don't worry, it's all school clothes.

Round 2- Ramona and Beezus (see the next post).

Round 3- Heavenly dinner: tiny spicy chicken entree from Wok on Wheels, a big Diet Coke, all to be followed up with some Extreme Moose Tracks action.

Round 4- "The Bounty Hunter" and "When in Rome." (while enjoying said Chinese food)

Aside from all of that, my room is clean, the laundry is being done... Today is a good day :)

Ramona and Beezus

I went to another movie alone today and loved every second of it.

This time I saw Ramona and Beezus.

When I was little, I was an avid Ramona reader. (and by "little" I may or may not mean my entire life.) The stories of Ramona's crazy antics and active imagination just make me happy.

My mom's word of warning going into it was "don't cry."

She knows me so well... Hey, I made it a full hour before I cried! But from then on, I was kind of a wreck.

Though the movie is only an hour and 45 minutes, and only covers a couple of months in the life of the Quimby family, they did a great job of fitting in all the classic Ramona stories. There were also some awesome but subtle references to other events from the books.

The soundtrack was excellent.
I even like Selena Gomez. Shocker, I know.

I loved it. I'll buy it when it comes out. And guess what? It's only rated G! You NEVER see that anymore!
