Life Flying By

I just walked out of the last class of my sophomore year of college.

Apparently it's been two years since I graduated from high school.

Really? Wow...

This is me then...

I don't feel like I've changed a lot since then... Physically anyway. I mean, maybe I've lost a little weight, I feel healthier and happier, but still. Not a lot.

However, I've changed a lot on the inside.

In these last two years, I've learned a lot about myself. I've grown more than I ever thought possible.

I came in thinking I knew what I wanted and where I wanted to go.

Well, three majors later, I've found it. I've found my passion and my talent. It feels so good!

In the last two years, I've lost contact with friends, but I've made more than I've lost. And these ones are here to stay.

I've learned that I can handle more than I used to think.
I've learned what I really want.
I've learned that I can do whatever I put my mind to.
I've learned that I can't do it on my own.

These last two years have flown by. Before I know it the next two will be gone and I'll have to face the real world. Scary...
I've decided one of my very favorite feelings is when I walk past someone on campus... They're reading the paper... Not only that, but they're reading MY article. I glance over and smile. Whether they know who I am or not, it makes me proud to know that my work is being read :)

Here's my last article of the year!

A Letter to My Head

My dear head...

Please don't explode in the next few days.
I'd greatly appreciate it.
I think everyone else would do, my brains and such everywhere probably wouldn't be the prettiest sight.
You can make it this last week, I promise!

Love, Megan

Outcasts United

This video is kind of long, but I promise it will be worth your time. Their story is amazing.

As part of A-Team, we do a class the week before school starts called Connections. As part of the class, each student reads the same book and writes a paper on it. We read it too so we can discuss and everything. This year's book is the story of the Fugees, Outcasts United: A Refugee Team, and American Town, by Warren St. John. St. John is a writer for the New York Times who heard about the Fugees team and felt it needed to be shared. Last year, I read the book very last minute, but this year I had the opportunity to read it early so I could meet with the university president and talk about it. I LOVED this book! I read it fast, but because I couldn't put it down. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

This is my current favorite song...

It makes me happy.
I'm not a complicated or high maintenance girl.
Once spring/summer comes, I forgo makeup and just let it go.
I love it, and lately a few guys have noticed that and commented, letting me know they like it.
I'm glad pop culture appreciates that kind of stuff too.

Four Flavors: One Cause

Check these out.

Bring Him Home...

Pretty Girl...

Yeah, pretty fantastic, huh? These are my friends. I love them!!

These are all from last night's concert "Four Flavors: One Cause" to benefit the Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

Last night was so great! Between the four groups, they played for two and a half hours, but that time FLEW by! These people are so talented, and the fact that it was all for a good cause made it even better!

To follow it all up, tonight is the Relay for Life. 26 teams of USU students will be in the Fieldhouse ALL night long, raising money and awareness. I can't wait!

There will definitely be a blog entry about this weekend... Between Relay and the annual Robins Awards/Blue Carpet Ball, I've got a busy weekend ahead!

One Step at a Time

It's amazing how things finally start working out...

The last few weeks I've been having a hard time with all this rejection. It all started with losing elections, but for awhile I just kind of avoided all emotions and feelings. I didn't have time for it. Finally after two weeks of nothing going my way, the last straw hit the pile and I lost it. I didn't get Country Swing presidency which, in and of it self didn't matter, I didn't want it that badly, and honestly, it would have been just one more thing, but it was just one more time of being told no that put me over the edge.

I went home that night and finally let all the emotions loose that I had been bottling up for weeks. I cried myself to sleep that night. I cried harder and longer than I have in a really long time. I woke up the next morning exhausted and with red, puffy eyes.

It was all the rejection, the stress, the craziness.

I was working so hard on everything and nothing was going my way. On top of all the rejection for positions, etc. I was dealing with school and my nearly-failed class, I was planning A-Week, I was running out of money which led to stressing about how to pay for school in the fall, and I didn't have a house for the summer or fall. I just couldn't handle it anymore.

Well apparently, that was the key. After that night, things started looking up.

A-Week started coming together... A-Week ended...
Erin and I found a place to live that we can live in for both summer and fall...
Country Dancing has been INCREDIBLE the last few weeks...
My friends are great...
Summer is almost here... (two and a half weeks!)
I got all the classes I needed/wanted for fall...
and tonight....
I got a new scholarship.
Thank you ASUSU.
$800 per semester less to worry about.

I am a happy girl these days.

So yes, I'm more than ready for this semester to be over. I need summer. I need sunshine, A-Team, and a break.

But things are definitely looking up.

I love today.
And I don't even know why!

I'm in such a good mood it's almost ridiculous.

It's just the little things really...

The sun is out...
I have a house...
Only two weeks of school left...
I started out the morning by going to Erin's dance class rather than to Family Finance...
There is more dancing in store tonight...
Boys are... great... for the most part...

Minus the fact that I'm not on the beach, I feel like this song fits my mood perfectly...

The sun is shining...
The grass is green...
