I wrote another story for the school paper today and I was thrilled that it made front page again. Click here to read it.
I love it.
I love writing. I love walking past people and seeing them read my article. They have no idea it's me. I love getting texts from my friends telling me they read it and loved it before I've even seen it.
Also. Lady Antebellum's new cd came out yesterday. I love them. This my new favorite song. So far... I don't have the rest of the album yet because my computer is currently out of commission.

Fortune Cookies

We got home with our bag with our bag of Chinese food tonight and after making sure we each had OUR fortune cookie (because naturally, it's fate. YOUR fate, meaning you'd best have your own cookie) we sat down to watch Fame. (Excellent movie by the way.)

After I was done eating, I slowly opened the wrapper and snapped the cookie in half. I look down and see these words staring back at me:

Yes, do it in confidence.

Amazing.

Everywhere I go, the answer is hitting me right in the face.

Even if I don't win, I'm going to give it all I've got.

At a leadership conference in August, each person present made a promise to the others there and to themselves. Each person said "This year, I will ______."

This year, I will take chances.

Well then. That's exactly what I'm going to do.

It's amazing to me how when you are going through something, someone, if not multiple people, seem to be going through the same thing. If not the same thing, then at least something similar and are experiencing similar feelings.
Or how when you need to hear something, there's someone there who seems to know that's what you need to hear.
You all know the basics of everything going on in my head lately. And in just the last 48 hours, so many people, whether they know it or not, have made me feel so much better. They understand, but they don't realize that. They say exactly what I need to hear without knowing they said anything.
"Do what you're passionate about."

"The rest is still unwritten."

"Every man, every day, has immense possibilities- some visible, some invisible."

"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."

"If you don't make your life turn out the way you want it, who will?"

"Maximize!"

"Make no small plans, for they have no magic to stir your soul."

Again With the Decisions...

So the Robins awards are a yearly tradition at USU. (p.s, USU students, go here to nominate someone for an award!) It's a formal event and it's just great. This year, I got my dress super early. It was at Target, only $25 AND it was already modest. Sleeves, long enough, all that good stuff. It looks like this. I love it. As soon as I got it, I started looking for fun shoes and jewelry to go with it, dress it up a bit, make it more formal. I love Target. I found three pairs of shoes I'm deciding between and want your opinions.

Option 1. So great. Red. Fun. Not too... sexy I guess. haha

Option 2. Also red. Also great. A little fancier I think... Plus sandals might be nice, the event is in April.

and Option 3. Silver. Sparkly. End of story.

Now my friends, it's up to you. Well, kind of. Ultimately I'll still make the decision. But let me know what you think!

Happy, Mom?

So my mom keeps saying I need to update. She's right, but my life is crazy. Finally I have a few spare minutes, so here it is.
I hate making decisions.
To some people it comes totally natural. They don't dwell on it or worry about all the possibilities, but for me it's a much harder thing.
Once I make the decision though, I realize that I made the whole thing a lot more complicated than I needed to. I realize I should have just gone with my gut feeling in the first place. No matter what the issue is, no matter how many times I change my mind, I always end up at the decision I made in the first place.
What is the issue at hand, you may ask?
Well. I'm running for office. Athletics & Campus Recreation VP to be exact.
For the last couple of weeks I have been back and forth, over and over again about whether to run for this or for the Student Advocate VP position.
Every time I thought I'd made my decision, some logic or reason would come up about why I should run for the other one.
After a lot of pep talks (the most influential being from the current Athletics VP telling me he trusts me and wants me to be the one to take over his job) I decided that my passion truly lies with Aggie Athletics. I feel like I have things to offer that can make a difference.
Want to guess which position I'd felt like I should run for at the beginning?

Obsession

I have a problem.
I love You've Got Mail.
A lot.
I know it word for word.
I cry every time.
I quote it in everyday life.
I can watch it over and over and over again and NEVER get tired of it.
Ever.
The same goes for Sleepless in Seattle.
Really, any Meg Ryan and/or Tom Hanks movie.
They are fabulous. They are talented. They have great chemistry. They are so classy.
I have a problem.

Flattering?

It's an interesting thing when a random guy you meet at a football game hits on you. It's kind of creepy, yet you can't help but feel flattered.

I went to the Fiesta Bowl last night and I hadn't been there even 10 minutes and it happened.

I was in line for food (finally... after an adventure on the secretive 2nd floor... more about that later.)

There were two guys ahead of me who were already well on their way to intoxication.

He turns around and says "Hey beautiful, will you take a picture for us?"

Uh... sure. No big deal. I reach for his camera.

"No, on your phone."

Oh. Right. Silly me.

At this point, in case I hadn't already, I definitely caught on. This is his sly way of giving me his number.

"Awesome... My number's 707-.... (whatever it was). Can you send it to me?"

So I tried. My phone is having issues though so it wasn't sending pictures.

So like I say, slightly creepy/awkward, but oh-so-flattering.

More about the rest of the night later.

Fresh Starts...

With the start of a new year comes the start of the new semester.

This semester will be a crazy one, but I'm excited.

I'm going to do better with balancing my life. Exercising, more time devoted to homework, etc.

I have to get ready for A-Day. And of course there's the Robins Awards.

I have to decide if I'm actually going to run for office or not. I want to, but I don't have the money it takes to campaign. If I decide to do it, I need to come up with a campaign.

There's a lot to take on and a lot to look forward to this semester. Bring it on :)
