Today is this girl's birthday.

We're going here to celebrate...

This is my favorite song this week...

Beyond EPIC

Hey girls-

Remember these boys??

Maybe as a more collective group...?

Well, tonight Erin and I will be seeing them LIVE!

Yep. You heard (read?) that right!

I was friends with Energy Solutions Arena on Facebook from entering another concert contest they had, and yesterday their status said that if you sent them a message, you would be entered in a drawing to win tickets for tonight's show. ESA has 1,500 friends, so when I entered, I thought nothing of it. Then today I got a message from them saying I'd won!!

We were already planning on going to Bear Lake today, but that will just have to wait!

Backstreet's back... Alright!!

High School Students

Dearest high school students (particularly those of you on campus for Youth Conference, EFY, and/or Leadership Conference),

You aren't as cool as you think you are.
So sorry.
You have so much ahead of you, you don't even know.
Graduation will be such a reality check for you!
So grow up, calm down, and don't snap your fingers at me because the pan you're at is out of food.
Notice the full pan I'm carrying in your direction?

Kindest regards,
Your lowly catering server.

Top Ten

Reasons why...

I love my dad...
(in no particular order)
10. he's always there for me.
I can talk to him about anything and I love that.
9. even though I don't enjoy hunting, fishing, etc, we still have things in common.
8. he works the grill like it's nobody's business
7. he's super smart.
I never would have made it through math classes and I wouldn't know nearly enough about politics, etc.
6. he supports me in everything I do.
seriously. Everything. Even if he thinks it's a crazy idea or dream of mine, he just goes along with it.
5. he's finally converted to country music.
4. we talk almost daily.
3. he loves the gospel and has always given it his full service and attention.
2. between him and my brother, I finally became the sports fanatic I am today.
1. he just wants me to be happy!

Thanks for everything Daddy!
Love you!!

My Perfect Man

If only I could take
a little Jim Halpert...

Add in a dash of Will Schuester...

A splash of Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd...

A bit of the rugged Jack Shephard...

And of course, some Carlos Bocanegra...

are you noticing a trend in their smiles/smirks?? *sigh*

And you, my dear readers, would have the man of Megan's dreams. It's sort of a combination of their humor, their personalities, their romance, their sweetness, their skills and talents, and of course, their looks.

Now I just have to find him...

Presenting the Class of 1950...

Tonight for work, we served dinner for a 60th class reunion. 60TH!! That's insane. I can't even think what my 5th or let alone 10th reunion will be like!

Can you imagine? These people graduated from high school in 1950. They went to North Cache when it apparently was a high school. It's a junior high now.

I loved how in love all these old couples were! At the end of dinner, everyone went around saying what they've been up to, etc. One lady got up and said she'll have been married for 61 years this year, (yes, do the math, married longer than graduated from high school). Her husband got up next (apparently they went to school together) and said the following:

"I need to correct my life on something she said. She said we'll be married for 61 years this year. In reality, we've been married for 60 years, 6 months, 15 days, and a few hours."

Cute huh!? Pretty much the cutest thing ever. These people have been together for so long! It gives me hope for the world.

I've Got Skills...

So I have a weird memory and can memorize lyrics to songs really quickly and really easily.

As long as it's playing and I can just sing along... I'm not as good on my own...

People are always awed by this and it makes me laugh.

I'll just be singing along, absentmindedly, not even realizing that I'm singing.

Then come the comments.

"Dang, you know every song that's come on!"

I don't know how I do it.

But I like it.

A Peek Inside My Mind...

You know how when you're updating your Facebook status it asks you "what's on your mind?" Well, this isn't Facebook, but here's what's on my mind...

I love my job. Seriously, it's the greatest ever.

I start catering in the morning. Pretty excited about it.

My room is messy. I should clean it.

Boys are frustrating. Especially when there's one you know you should get over because nothing is happening, but then every time you think you're almost over him, you fall again... Super annoying.

And then just when you think it's going well with another boy (hence making you think you're over the other one...) he just stops texting, calling, etc. You've been talking a lot, then out of nowhere, he's just done. I don't get it.

I'm really excited about next school year. Things are looking great.

I'm going home soon. And taking my best friend with me. Maybe two of them. And I get to eat a watermelon Eegee and go to Diamondbacks game.

Why do I always end up watching the crazy popular tv shows? I told myself I was gong to avoid Glee... At least I made it a year...

Miranda Lambert won best female video at the CMT awards tonight for THIS video. Which I love. Carrie Underwood won overall video for THIS one. Which I also love.

"Working hard to get my fill, everybody wants a thrill..."

"That is literally a recurring stress dream that I have!" bahaha. Love Date Night. I've now seen it twice within five days. NBD.

And there are a lot of other things I'm sure...

Summer Rain

A summer rainstorm...

plus...

a great group of friends...

plus...

a soccer ball...

plus...

watermelon and rainbows...

equals a win of an FHE. Such a great night!!

A Day on My Own

So after a weekend of hanging around my house by myself, I decided to make today different. I was already planning on lunch with my mentor and friend, Tiff, but after that I wasn't ready to head back to my quiet, empty house.

I decided to stop at the mall. After wandering around for awhile, I got curious about a matinee movie. Turned out The Killers was starting in about half an hour.

With only a moment's hesitation, I headed over to the theater.

I got in to the room and it was just me and a couple summer citizens.

I was early, and it was still on the repetitive commercials that play pre-previews, so I pulled out my book, that I of course carry around in my purse.

To some it may have seemed strange, but I thought it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

p.s, Killers was great. Super funny!

How it Should Be

Legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden passed away yesterday at the age of 99.

Last year, Rick Reilly interviewed him and talked about the love and relationship he had with his wife.

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
I can't wait to have that.

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."

This is why it scares me...

Remember my whole fear of commitment/relationships?

Maybe it has to do with the fact that these days I know of more people breaking off engagements than actually following through with it.

This is why you shouldn't get engaged after only a month, my friends!! You do NOT know each other well enough after a month!

I know they say that "when you know, you know" or whatever, but even if you "know," you still don't know enough about the other person. You probably haven't seen them at their worst. You may not have even seen them at their best. You haven't seen them in holiday family situations or in all their different groups of friends.

Give it time. Be patient. Enjoy the ride and don't rush into things.

I love summer.
Anyone who knows me at all knows that I love summer.

Tonight included snow cones, the first block party (with otter pops and hot dogs, naturally) of the summer, and now we're off to go dancing.

Tomorrow is the first SOAR day. (That's USU's orientation program, for those of you who haven't paid close attention.)

Logan weather is finally deciding to act summery.
It's a beautiful thing.

This is my favorite time of year.
It makes me so, so happy.

Here are some of my favorite summery songs...
