#100

I feel like this is epic enough to be my hundredth post...

I'M IN!!

We're going to finals!

The votes were SO close!

There were three of us running, Dan had 946 votes, I got 942, and Kayla got 936. Insane!!

It still hasn't really set in, and I've got a busy weekend ahead to get ready for finals! They start on Wednesday!!

So Far...

Well this week has definitely been interesting. Life is CRAZY right now!

Campaigning started early Wednesday morning. It wasn't long before it started snowing... Awesome... But the day went well!

I went to one class but was outside campaigning until 2:30 that day. A lot of people had people out there for them most the day, but I made an effort to be there as much as possible.
By the end of the day I felt really good about it all! I had talked to a lot of people and really gotten myself out there.

All I know is that I'm really glad I'm not running for Programming! There is so much DRAMA! And I hate drama! Almost all the candidates had problems with the rules... Fun stuff!

Last night was the night for "dorm storming" which involves going and knocking on all the doors of on-campus housing. It's kind of draining, but a ton of fun! It's a great way to get your name out there. Freshmen are one of the highest voting groups (along with Greeks) so talking to them that way helps a lot!

Today was lots warmer than yesterday and also went really well! I was out there all day except for the one hour I went to class and it was great! Talked myself up and really got into it.
We have tomorrow to continue campaigning and the announcement for who moves on will be made a little bit after 3!
Liz and I are going to be the only ones home this weekend and tonight she asked what we wanted to do... Well, it all depends on the results! If I'm moving on, we're celebrating! If not, it's all about the movies and ice cream.

I feel good about it though, I really really do... So we'll see in just a few hours!! :)

The Winnie the Pooh Philosophy

You're smarter than you know...
braver than you believe...
stronger than you seem...

Remember those lines? I had forgotten them. But they're great. And so true.

Oh the wisdom we get from stuffed bears...

I'm stressed. I'm tired. I'm scared.

Thanks Mom for making it better.

That Just Happened....

I get out of the car...

I hear a small crash...

Instantly I knew my phone had fallen, but I thought it was just on the ground, under the car...

"Oh shoot... that just happened," I hear...

I look down.

There it is.

In the storm drain.

Yep.

How on earth does a phone fall into a storm drain?

How on earth do you get one out?

Call campus police. Who transfer you to the city. Who transfer you to Public Works.

But of COURSE Public Works had to close 15 minutes earlier so to have their help would mean waiting until morning.

Why would I let my phone stay in a STORM drain overnight? Not happening.

Next best option?

You have to go door to door in a building that you don't know anyone asking for salad tongs.

Eventually, the cute boy will have them.

Then you grab your phone.

Like you're fishing.

Yep. My life is epic.

The Music Makes the Show...

I love movies.
More than movies though, I love movies with incredible soundtracks.
They MAKE the movie sometimes.
One of my favorites is Mr. Holland's Opus.

It's not just the scenes featuring music.
Throughout the movie, you have everything from Gershwin to John Lennon to Bach playing.
They make a fabulous movie even better.

Another great one is Forrest Gump.
As the movie progresses through history, so does the music.
It leads us through the times, reminds us of the past.

I love Moulin Rouge.
It incorporates classic songs and makes them relevant to the movie.

Any movie with John Williams' music is automatically epic.

I love when movies introduce me to new music.

Without "Love Happens," I never would have known about Rogue Wave.

Music adds emotion. It has power. Real power.

My life would not be complete without music.

People

I love watching people.
On campus, at the store, at a restaurant...

It fascinates me to try and figure out their story.
Why are they smiling?
Why do they look so angry?
What do the tattoos mean?

I love watching the old couples.
They're still so in love after so many years.
It makes me want that.

Then I see other couples and wonder what I'm doing wrong.
If even they have someone, why don't I?

I love watching kids.
They find so much entertainment in the littlest things.
They laugh, they run, they scream.
I love to see their parents. It makes me excited for the day that that is me.

People watching is a never-fail source of fun for me.

Current Thoughts...

I'm sitting in the Spectrum listening to practice...
I have a Dr. Pepper and Coconut M&Ms...
I have the new Angels & Airwaves album playing...
Life is good.

On my way here from work, people were very happy and friendly. In just the 10 minutes I was walking around, five or six random people who were also walking would smile, say hi, or start a quick conversation.
A couple of them were people who looked familiar, maybe I know them? Or maybe they're just happy friendly people.

Why is it always the married guys who are super cute and flirty? There's a guy who works on campus in a place I frequent quite often. I encounter him almost daily. He's attractive and a bit flirty... However, he's married. Not only does he have a ring, he's talked about it. There's no doubt. It's quite unfortunate though.

I found out today that if I make office, I won't be able to write for the school paper anymore... Apparently it's a conflict of interest. It makes sense, but doesn't at the same time. If I do win, I'll be super excited and I'm sure I'll be too busy to write much anyway, but still... Kind of disappointing. However, if I don't win, I apparently have a lot of people confident in me and loving my writing. One of my professors, the adviser of the paper, has told me he can see me running the paper in a couple years, so maybe I have that option...

Sorry for the rambling randomness... Those are just the thoughts going on in my head and I needed to share them with someone.

Free Time = Blogging Time

I love the Olympics.
Seriously.
They're one of my favorite things ever.
I love the spirit, the athleticism, the patriotism.
My very favorite part is the medal ceremonies.

I can't help but cry every time I watch one.
It doesn't even have to be the U.S winning (though I get even worse if it is!)
I love the emotion they show.
They can't stop smiling. They sing along. They cry. They're excited.
I love the excitement everyone there in support is showing.
Like tonight.
Canada won the men's moguls.
It was the first time that someone from Canada has won that event, but it was also the first time that Canada won a gold medal in an Olympics held in Canada.
Incredible.
Beautiful.

Cravings

Right now I'm craving...

Coconut Diet Coke from Sonic
summer
Aggie basketball
Beto's
Grey's Anatomy
a boy

sleep
sunshine
Spring Break

Dear Apolo

Dearest Apolo,

Congratulations on tonight's silver medal win.

Remember how fantastic you were on Dancing With the Stars? Yeah? I sure do.

We should get married.

Ok? Ok deal.

Apparently we live in the same state. That's a good start.

Love, Megan

family

There's something great about a group of friends that you actually consider family.
This is the way the A-Team rolls.
They are my best friends, my brothers and my sisters. They are always there.
They will do anything for you.
They are my life.(this is actually our retreat from last May. Utah doesn't look like that right now.)

We just got back from our first of two retreats we will have before summer.
I love it.
We eat a lot, laugh a lot, play a lot and learn a lot.
We bond. We connect.

My life would not be the same without these people in it.
It's the best thing I've ever done for myself.

On another note...

I love the Olympics.
Is it weird that I sometimes get emotional?
I always get a bit teary during the opening ceremonies. I haven't watched them yet though, working on that.
I love the medal ceremonies. Whether its a U.S athlete winning or not, I love watching them. Their national anthem plays, they smile, they cry, they sing along (unless they're from Russia...).
I love the emotion and the passion each person has for their sport and for their country.

Well. Good entry. Now it's time for the post-retreat crash. Tonight's plans include watching our boys take on San Jose State and then boycott Valentine's Day by going to see the movie "Valentine's Day." Patrick Dempsey is in it. Along with every other famous attractive man.

It makes me feel pretty and classy.

I love the click of my heels on a hard floor.

I love having excuses to look this way :)

Ways to Make a Bad Week Happy

*go to not one, but two winning basketball games that were televised on ESPN2/U

*at said games, be a part of cheers that the ESPN guys say make you more in sync than the Tabernacle Choir

*spend the day with your highly entertaining extended family at a baby blessing/Super Bowl party

*sigh*

To put it bluntly, today has been one hell of a day.

I hate stress. I hate decisions.

Today was full of those.

Remember this?

Or this one?

Well things have changed again.

After a personal breakdown and the "Emotional Breakdown Hour with Tiffany Evans," with Kayde, I feel much better.

I'm still running, don't worry. But I switched to Student Advocate. As of right now, it's just me running, but one of my friends is still thinking about it. Even if he runs, I feel like we'll be ok. It always worried me to run against a friend, but he and I are involved on so many levels together, we have to be mature about it and not let the drama mess things up.

Tiff told Kayde not to let the names of the others get in the way, but with me, she understood. The guy I would have been running against is huge on campus. He's been very limitedly involved, but it's his name. Everyone knows his family. It scares me. If people didn't know either of us, they would know his last name and vote for him. I went back and forth between my confidence in being able to beat him and not.

I know I would love Athletics, but I know I could love Advocate.

I've been focusing all my energy on Athletics ideas and not Advocate, but after some time, I'll be ok. I'll get it figured out.

I decided I would rather have an impact on the university as a whole than on just the sports fans.

I want to TRULY make a difference.

I'm done changing my mind. I have to be. But I feel good about this. I'm scared, I'm excited, I'm ready. I would really be ok if we just skipped to post-elections.

But here I am. I feel much better about everything. Venting is a great thing. Especially three times over. People know me better than I know myself sometimes and understnad the things that I don't.

Ready. Set. Go.
